Description

C clarinet – GARRETT, Richard

This instrument serves as a classic representation of an English clarinet from the dawn of the nineteenth century. It is constructed from stunning boxwood and boasts nine elegantly designed keys.  The five rings are made from finely turned ivory.

It was made by a certain Richard GARRETT who worked in London. According to the Langwill Index, he used the No 2 King Street address between 1826 and 1834. That makes this beauty almost 200 years old!

This instrument has all its parts, but it does need restoration work. The boxwood seems fine. The barrel dates back to the same fabrication period, but its colour might indicate it doesn’t belong to this clarinet. The top ivory ring of the bell has a crack.

This gorgeous C clarinet, almost two centuries old, is available for purchase now. Don’t miss out on owning a part of English clarinet history.

Important note

This instrument contains ivory. A certificate for the legal sale of this instrument within the European Union is supplied when purchased.
