show more The G.H. HÜLLER workshop was founded by Gottlob-Hermann HÜLLER (1858-1928) in 1878 in Hermesgrün, Germany. He had spent his journeyman years with great makers of the time, including HECKEL in Biebrich and ALEXANDER in Mainz before starting out on his own, at first making flutes. In 1883, he moved to Schöneck to set up his workshop there. He bought the STÜMPEL and C. KRUSPE firms and made all forms of wind instruments alongside five of his sons and many employees. Fifty years later, in 1928, his workshop employed over 100 people and were making 11,000 woodwind instruments per year. World War II signalled the beginning of difficult times at Hüller, which would eventually become nationalised as part of the GDR. This English horn or cors anglais is in excellent condition. It is crafted in grenadilla and it presents no obvious cracks. The mechanism and rings are made of nickel silver with silver plating. It even has its original pads! It would need to be overhauled to be played professionally again. If that’s not all… the instrument comes in its original case with two original crooks and tenon protectors! show less
