Description
Silver-plated ‘Silberton’ soprano recorder
This is a “Silberton” or “Silverton” all-metal soprano recorder. The instrument was designed and developed by the Hungarian Gyula FOKY-GRUBER (1927-2014). He left his homeland for Vienna following the Hungarian Uprising in 1956, where he studied and started to make instruments. Two companies, namely AMATI and HOPF, produced these types of instruments.
This Silberton recorder is not stamped. It has a thumb rest and tuning slide with German fingering and single holes for D and C. Its nominal pitch is C and it plays at a=442 Hz.
In terms of condition, the recorder was thoroughly cleaned and adjusted. There is some slight wear of the silver plating in places. This however does not affect the sound at all.
The sound is extremely bright and colourful.
