Description
Oboe – Buffet-Crampon & Cie.
This oboe was made by Buffet Crampon. The company was founded in Paris 1825 by Denis Buffet-Auger (1783-1841) and became Buffet Crampon when his son, Jean Louis Buffet (1813-1865) married into the Crampon family with Zoë Crampon.
The logo and stamp found on all parts of the instrument was created in 1844 and still used today.
It is made of grenadilla and features nickel silver keywork and rings. It is a Triebert system N° 5 with thumbplate, probably made around 1900. Although the oboe is in very good condition, it of course needs an overhaul if intended for professional use. There are no major cracks but some minor damage to the bell. The case is original and quite nice.
