Six-keyed flute – CAHUSAC, Thomas Sr.
When do you have the chance to own a beautiful flute made by one of London’s most famous instrument-making families – the Cahusacs? The answer is now!
This instrument seems to have been made by Thomas CAHUSAC Senior (1714-1798) towards the end of the eighteenth century. It is stamped on all parts. Take a look at the beautiful grain of the cocuswood used to create this four-part flute. The embouchure was masterfully cut and seems original. The rings were turned in ivory. The flute features excellently scalloped, flat-plate silver keys, which were typical of the time. It is supplied in a nice wooden case.
show more Overall, this instrument is in very good condition for its age. It does, of course, need a general overall – pads, tenon threads etc. Two of the ivory rings have a crack and the silver F-key is somewhat bent. Once restored, we expect this flute to play at slightly under a=440 Hz. In the right professional hands, this flute can be brought back to life to make sweet music again. Important note This instrument contains ivory. A certificate for the legal sale of this instrument within the European Union is supplied when purchased. show less
