Description

Piccolo – A.K. BERNDT

This piccolo was wonderfully crafted by hand in grenadilla. The keywork Is made from nickel silver with silver plating. The key mechanism is absolutely high-precision work. We can see that that the embouchure is oval and masterfully cut.

In terms of condition, there are no faults with the mechanism. No visible cracks can be seen. Its previous owner had it restored with silicon pads which is why it is playable.

We are very impressed with the craftsmanship of this maker – Alfred Kurt BERNDT. He was originally from Vogtland in Germany but worked in Leipzig and Berlin as a woodwind instrument maker.

The piccolo plays slightly over a=440 Hz. Its tone is warm with good intonation. It speaks easily through all the registers. It is supplied in its original case.. complete with tenon protector.
