Silver-plated Louis Lot (Chambille) flute
What makes this Louis Lot flute stand out is that you can just take it and play right away! It’s in great condition as it has seen very little use.
It was made by the business established by Louis Esprit LOT (1807-96) during the Ernest Henri CHAMBILLE (1858-1922) era. Ernest Chambille had worked in the LOT workshop since 1882 and became foreman during the DEBONNEETBEAU period. He owned the company from the end of 1904 until his death in October 1922, when his daughter Gabrielle Chambille (1922-1951) succeeded him.
show more This instrument is incredibly light. The body is silver-plated and the lip-plate is solid silver. There are no modifications. The pointed arms are beautifully sculpted with a nicely cut, small embouchure measuring 10.0 x 11.8 mm. No adjusting screws are present. Another rare feature is the pristine silver-plating… which for a change is all intact! The chimneys show no wear and remain sharp and precise as they were when the flute was made… in 1909. With its wonderful condition, this flute is poised to delight its owner and everyone who hears it instantly. We can only see an extremely tiny dent on the chin-side of the lip-plate. This instrument was recently overhauled and repadded and is supplied in its original case. This Louis Lot flute speaks so easily at a pitch of a=442 Hz and has a warm singing sound. show less
