Description
Conical ring-key piccolo – LOT, Louis
This is an early example of a conical ring-key piccolo made by the Louis LOT company.
It is crafted from grenadilla with a solid silver, ring-key mechanism. Louis Lot piccolos tended not to have serial numbers and those which do are often from the last years of the company’s production.
This particular Louis Lot piccolo is stamped on both parts. The quality of the craftsmanship is impressive, especially the key mechanism, and it is supplied in its original case. It is in great shape, the keywork operates smoothly and there’s very little wear. There are no visible cracks. It would need a general overhaul to be played professionally again.
If that’s not all, this rare Louis Lot piccolo plays at the pitch of a=438-440 Hz.
