Description
SCHIMMEL piano brass nameplate
Here is a collector’s item for piano lovers. It’s a brass nameplate for a Schimmel Junior piano that appears to have never belonged to a piano. The company was founded in 1885 and still exists today.
This particular nameplate was for the “Junior” model. It features the German abbreviations “D.R.P.a.” or Deutsches Reich Patent angemeldet [German Empire Patent pending] and “D.R.G.M.” or Deutsches Reich Gebrauchsmuster [German Empire utility model]. The company had a patents and utility model for small-format pianos in 1939. It was located inside the piano itself.
