Description
Ring-key piccolo – Bonneville
This Bonneville piccolo is crafted in luscious cocuswood with silver-plated nickel silver keys. It was made by BONNEVILLE, a company led by three generations of Paris based flute makers.
The company was founded in Paris by August Adrien BONNEVILLE (1819-1895) and would become synonymous with prestigious flutes. He started out as a silver-smith supplying Claire GODFROY Aine and Louis LOT before opening his own flute manufactory which started in 1876 and would be continued by his successors until 1935.
The craftsmanship of Bonneville flutes has earned every admiration, as has their enchanting and unique tonal quality.
Based on recent research by René Pierre (Blog, 2019), this flute number 3499 can be dated to around 1910. It was made therefore when the workshop was in the hands of August Adrien’s son, Alphonse Edmond BONNEVILLE (1854-1925)
This ring-key piccolo has a crack in the head joint at the side and needs to be restored. Overall, it is in good condition and when given a new lease of life, we expect it to play at just under a=440 Hz.
It will be supplied to its new and lucky owner in its case.
